Durham Region Transit welcomes its six first electric buses

Whitby, ON – Durham Region Transit (DRT) is delighted to announce the arrival of six new electric buses, and the first key milestone in delivering the E-Mission Zero program. This initiative is part of DRT’s commitment to achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions through a sustainable network of vehicles, infrastructure, and facilities by 2037. The introduction of these first battery electric buses will allow DRT to assess and plan for their transition to a full fleet of zero-emission buses.

Whitby, Ontario – On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Durham Region Transit (DRT) will implement service enhancements to reflect the return to school and work following summer vacation, introduce scheduled service to some areas previously served by On Demand, and improve connections to GO Transit.

Youth 10 (Y10) monthly pass starts on September 1, 2024

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Transit (DRT) is once again offering the discounted Y10 monthly youth pass via PRESTO. Customers who are 13 to 19 years of age can purchase the Y10 monthly pass for $84.24 per month.

Customers who purchase a pass every month from September until June will save $19.44 on each consecutive Y10 monthly pass, for a total of $194.40 in savings.

Due to construction, stop #2156 – Harwood Avenue northbound @ Doric Street and stop #2153 - Harwood Avenue southbound @ Ontario Street will be temporarily closed.

 Please use the stops located on Harwood Avenue, north of Doric Street at Mandrake Street.
