1) Y10 monthly passes are available for purchase on physical cards or through Mobile Wallet PRESTO cards. Durham Region Transit’s (DRT) Y10 monthly passes are not available through the PRESTO E-Tickets app.
2) Participation in the Y10 program requires the following:
i. Complete enrolment form by September 15 – reference #3
ii. Redeem Y10 voucher code each month – reference #5
iii. Purchase Y10 monthly pass by the 15th day of each month – reference #6
iv. Consecutive monthly pass purchases from September 2025 to June 2026 – reference #8
If the purchase of a Y10 monthly pass is not completed for any month during the promotional period, the Y10 monthly pass rate will no longer apply, and the Presto card will default to an Adult concession. No exceptions can be granted for missed or late purchase attempts. Purchases must be made by the 15th day of every month.
3) Enrolment Required
The online enrolment form must be completed in order to continue receiving the Y10 monthly pass and save more than $20 each month or approximately $200 over the 10-month promotional period.
Existing cardholders must complete the enrolment form prior to September 10, 2025, to allow for adequate processing time and distribution of the Y10 discount voucher code to cardholders. This allows for existing cardholders to redeem the Y10 discount voucher and complete their Y10 purchase prior to the end of the monthly pass sales window on September 15, 2025.
For new cardholders, when a new PRESTO card is purchased and the Y10 monthly pass is requested at a point-of-sale location for September, the Y10 monthly pass discount will be applied at the time of purchase. Completion of the online enrolment form and purchase of the September Y10 monthly pass is required by the end of the monthly pass sales window on September 15, 2025, to continue receiving the Y10 monthly pass pricing for October 2025 to June 2026.
The Y10 monthly pass pricing will not be available for subsequent months for any cardholders who have not submitted the online enrolment form.
The email address provided by the participant during enrolment will be used for correspondence with registered Y10 customers relating to the Y10 program, including distribution of the Y10 discount voucher codes each month. Communications will be distributed from DRTHelps@durham.ca. Please check your email settings to ensure this email address is not filtered to your email provider’s spam or junk folder.
Parents or guardians may wish to manage and provide their contact information on behalf of the Y10 participant. If desired, the parent or guardian contact information should be entered in applicable contact information fields during enrolment.
DRT is unable to make exceptions for missed purchases.

4) Pass validity period
All DRT monthly passes are valid for the calendar month for which they are purchased. Monthly passes become active at 12:00 a.m. on the first day of each calendar month and expire at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of each calendar month.
The cost of a DRT monthly pass is not prorated based on the purchase date.
5) Voucher redemption – NEW for 2025/2026
Individual participants are responsible for redeeming the Y10 discount voucher code each month from September 2025 (October 2025 for new cardholders) to June 2026. Redemption of the voucher code entitles the participant to discounted Y10 pricing; the participant is still responsible for purchasing the Y10 monthly pass following the redemption of the discount voucher code.
Redemption of the voucher code is required to receive the discounted Y10 pricing.
Y10 voucher codes will be emailed to eligible participants by DRTHelps@durham.ca between the 16th and 20th day of each month.
Voucher codes can only be redeemed on one PRESTO card. Once redeemed the code will become void. For PRESTO account holders with multiple cards, ensure the voucher code is redeemed to the appropriate card. Replacement voucher codes can not be issued.

Please note that changes to account information following the redemption of a voucher code may take up to 24 hours to take effect. Y10 discount voucher redemptions completed after the 10th day of each month risk the participant’s ability to successfully complete the required purchase prior to the 15th day of each month.
Ensure your voucher code has been redeemed in advance and with enough time to complete your monthly pass purchase prior to 11:59 p.m. on the 15th day of each month.
Once you see the concession information in your online account displayed as “Adult 20:Y10 Con(cession)” with an expiry date for the end of the next purchase month, you will be able to purchase the Y10 pass in-person or online during the monthly pass sales window outlined below.
The “Adult 20” portion of the concession references how the Y10 concession is handled on other transit agencies outside of DRT as the Y10 concession is a special product specific to DRT.
6) Monthly pass sales window
All DRT monthly passes are available for purchase during the following sales period:
21st day of the previous month to the 15th day of the month for which the monthly pass is valid.
Example:
September monthly passes are available for purchase from August 21 to September 15..
*No monthly passes can be sold from the 16th day to the 20th day of each month as the Presto system transitions to the next month’s sales period.
There are no extensions to pass validity, all DRT monthly passes expire at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of each month.
7) Autoload and Autorenew
PRESTO offers cardholders the ability to automatically reload e-purse and/or monthly passes to their PRESTO card.
If Autorenew has been set up on your PRESTO card for a DRT monthly pass purchase, you must redeem the Y10 discount voucher code prior to each month's autorenew transaction. Failure to redeem the Y10 discount voucher code prior to the autorenew transaction will result in the purchase of a DRT monthly pass at the regular rate of the default concession on your PRESTO card.

8) Consecutive monthly pass purchases
Consecutive Y10 monthly pass purchases are required from September 2025 through June 2026 to maintain discounted Y10 pricing. If a Y10 monthly pass is not purchased prior to the end of the monthly pass sales window on the 15th day of each month, the Y10 discount will not apply for subsequent months.
No exceptions can be granted if the Y10 pass is not purchased prior to the end of the monthly pass sales window on the 15th day of each month.
9) PRESTO card registration
Registration of a PRESTO card provides the cardholder with added protection by allowing for monthly pass products and/or e-purse value to be transferred to a new card in the event that the original card is lost, stolen or damaged.
The PRESTO card registration process is independent of the Y10 enrolment process and must be completed by the cardholder prior to the loss of the original card to enable balance transfer options.
Unregistered PRESTO cards offer no added protection, if an unregistered card is lost, monthly pass products and/or e-purse funds can not be recovered and will result the end of participation in the Y10 program. Replacement voucher codes can not be issued.

10) PRESTO card balance transfer
Registered PRESTO card holders can request that monthly pass products and/or e-purse funds be transferred to a new PRESTO card. This can be completed through the PRESTO online portal or by calling and speaking to PRESTO Customer Service at 1-877-378-6123.
Performing a balance transfer will deactivate the original card and move all products stored on the card to the new card. Balance transfers may take up to 24 hours to be completed; monthly pass and/or e-purse products are unavailable during this time.
A balance transfer is required to recover an active Y10 monthly pass or a redeemed Y10 discount voucher. Replacement Y10 discount vouchers can not be issued and must be recovered through the balance transfer process.
If a PRESTO card has been lost, stolen, or damaged prior to the redemption of your provided Y10 discount voucher code, you can redeem the voucher code on a new PRESTO card to complete your purchase. As a reminder, a voucher code is valid for a single use. Please ensure you are redeeming the Y10 voucher code on an appropriate card prior to redemption.
Participants with unregistered PRESTO cards will be unable to recover active monthly pass products or previously redeemed vouchers. Replacement voucher codes can not be issued, and this will result in the end of participation in the Y10 promotion.

11) Age of participant
The Y10 discount applies to consecutive Y10 monthly pass purchases for eligible participants 13 to 19 (inclusive) years old.
Proof of age is required during enrolment and/or at the time of initial purchase.
Proof of age must include the participant’s birthdate, student cards that do not display the participant’s birthdate are not accepted. Examples of acceptable proof of age (ID) include:
- Driver's license.
- Passport.
- Ontario Photo Card.
- Other ID including the participant's birthdate.
Participants who turn 20 years old following the start of the Y10 promotion will be eligible to purchase the Y10 monthly bus pass up to and including the month of their 20th birthday. The participant will no longer be eligible for the Y10 discount in the month following their 20th birthday. If a customer turns 20 in February 2026, they will be able to use the Y10 discount for the month of February but will no longer be eligible for the discount in March 2026.
