Using PRESTO ensures the best value and lowest fare for customers, offering a $10 savings for every 14 trips. Customers travelling on Durham Region Transit (DRT) can also download and use the new PRESTO E-Tickets app and save the $6 card fee.

The Y10 monthly pass is back!

Start the school year off right with flexible and convenient transit. Customers ages 13 to 19 can purchase an October Y10 monthly pass and pay only $53.50 for unlimited travel – that’s a $40 savings! Available for purchase through June 2022.

The savings continue all year long: save $40 off each subsequent Y10 monthly pass purchased on PRESTO until June 2022, for a total savings of up to $400*. It’s never been more affordable to do more and drive less with Durham Region Transit.

Your PRESTO card can be set up to take advantage of a Y10 monthly pass by visiting one of the following DRT PRESTO Points of Sale (POS): Pickering Town Centre Guest Services, Oshawa Centre Guest Services, DRT Customer Service Centre (110 Westney Road South, Ajax), or the Scugog Municipal Office (181 Perry Street, Port Perry)*.

For November and subsequent months, the Y10 monthly pass can be purchased online at or at any DRT PRESTO POS.

Please note that eligibility for the Y10 monthly pass requires that a Durham Region Transit Y10 concession is applied by:

  1. Loading the promotional Y10 concession on your existing PRESTO card at the Pickering Town Centre, Oshawa Centre, DRT Customer Service Centre in Ajax, or Scugog Municipal Office.

To continue receiving the Y10 monthly pass and save $40 each month, you must continue purchasing the Y10 monthly pass for each consecutive month through to June 2022. If you do not purchase for any month you will not receive the discount again for the remainder of the promotion period.

*Note: Access to the Scugog Municipal Office is by appointment only (call 905-985-7346 or email: to book an appointment).

 2-For-1 Summer Youth Pass 
The 2-for-1 Summer Youth Pass is back!

From now until July 15, customers who are 13 to 19 years of age can purchase a 2-for-1 Summer Youth Pass for $93.50 – and the month of August is FREE!

The Summer Youth Pass is available at the following locations:

  • Oshawa Centre Guest Services: 419 King Street West, Oshawa
  • Pickering Town Centre Guest Services: 1355 Kingston Road, Pickering
  • DRT Customer Service Centre: 110 Westney Road South, Ajax

 The August pass will automatically renew on the purchaser’s PRESTO card prior to the beginning of August.

Senior - Ages 65 and older

Child - Ages 12 and under

Access pass and Transit Assistance Program (TAP)

Please note that Specialized Transit and On Demand trips may be served by a DRT taxi partner and are not equipped for PRESTO payments. In these cases Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program clients using PRESTO through the Transit Assistance Program (TAP) must show their PRESTO card and proof of assistance. Acceptable verification of proof of assistance includes a paper copy of the client’s Statement of Assistance or their active MyBenefits social assistance status (see image below) either on their mobile device or as a print out with their PRESTO card when boarding.  

Showing proof of assistance is not required when boarding DRT buses or other PRESTO equipped vehicles as part of your trip. Simply tap your PRESTO card when boarding.

On November 1, 2019, Durham Region Transit launched the “TAP” pilot program, a Transit Assistance Program for low-income individuals that improves transit access and affordability for customers currently receiving Social Assistance in Durham Region.

With TAP, you can pay as you go, or pay monthly, and have unlimited access to DRT services for the month. With pay as you go you pay for the first 14 trips in a month up to $45.50* and then ride at no charge for the remainder of the month. With the monthly pass you can pay $46.00 up front and ride all you want. 

Once purchased, the TAP is valid for six month periods with a PRESTO card that allows you to: 

  • add money to your card at any DRT PRESTO point of sale, on or by downloading and installing the PRESTO app to your smartphone
  • register your card to protect your money if the card gets lost or stolen
  • keep and use the PRESTO card even if your TAP ends

To learn more about TAP:

  • OW clients should contact their Social Services caseworker and ask about receiving a pre-loaded PRESTO card with the TAP concession applied.
  • ODSP clients note that the Access paper pass, $46.00 per month, will still be available over the next several months. If you’re interested in switching to TAP, bring your monthly statement as proof of eligibility to one of the following DRT PRESTO points of sale:
    • DRT’s Customer Service Centre
    • Oshawa Centre
    • Pickering Town Centre
    • Scugog Municipal Office

In accordance with the ODSP and OW statement, all members of a family unit are eligible for the program.

Customers can also have the TAP concession set on an existing card by visiting a DRT PRESTO point of sale and bringing their monthly statement as proof of eligibility.

* Please review the following terms and conditions:

  • TAP applies to travel on DRT only; TAP cannot be used for any travel with other transit agencies, including GO and TTC. Regular fares will apply when travelling with other transit agencies. 
  • Loading values to your PRESTO card online can take up to 24 hours. Please plan your trips accordingly, and call PRESTO directly at 1-877-378-6123 or visit for more information. 
  • You can use your existing PRESTO card for the TAP; please note that once the TAP concession is loaded onto your card, it will override any other concessions.
