2026 fares

The following fare rates are effective July 1, 2026. This fare increase is part of DRT's 10-year strategy to invest in service enhancements, transition to a battery electric fleet, and offer new facilities and amenities.

Adult
  • Single trip PRESTO tap: $3.84

  • Monthly PRESTO Pass: $138.24

  • Cash (exact change only) and Open Payment (debit and credit card): $4.85

Youth - Ages 13 to 19
  • Single trip PRESTO tap: $3.46
  • Monthly PRESTO pass: $110.59
  • Cash (exact change only) and Open Payment (debit or credit card): $4.85
2-for-1 Summer Youth Pass 2026

The 2-for-1 Youth Pass can be bought from June 21, 2026 to July 15, 2026 using PRESTO. You can use it from July 1 to August 31, 2026. Youth ages 13 to 19 can buy the pass for $110.59. This means you get August for free and save $110.59!

Where to buy your 2-for-1 Summer Youth Pass:

  • DRT Customer Service – 110 Westney Road South, Ajax.
  • Region of Durham Headquarters – 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby.
  • Oshawa Centre – Guest Services, 419 King Street West, Oshawa.
  • Township of Scugog – 181 Perry Street, Port Perry.

You can also buy it online at prestocard.ca or on the PRESTO app for iOS and Android.*
The August pass will automatically renew on the purchaser’s PRESTO card prior to the beginning of August.

2-for-1 Summer Youth Pass Terms and Conditions

1)    How to buy:
You can buy the pass using a physical PRESTO card or a mobile wallet PRESTO card. You cannot buy it using the PRESTO E-Tickets app.

2)    Register your PRESTO card:
Registering your PRESTO card helps protect your money.

If your card is lost or broken, you can move your pass and funds to a new card.

If your card is not registered:

  • You cannot get your money or pass back if it is lost
  • You will lose access to the 2-for-1 promotion
  • A new pass will not be given

3)    Move your balance

If your PRESTO card is registered, you can move your pass and money to a new card.

You can do this:

  • Online through your PRESTO account.
  • By calling PRESTO Customer Service at 1-877-378-6123.

This will:

  • Turn off your old card.
  • Move everything to your new card.

You must do this to get your youth pass back if your card is lost. This option is not available for unregistered cards.

4)    August pass renewal

Your August pass will be added automatically to the same PRESTO card used for July. If your card is lost, replaced, or changed to a mobile wallet before July 21, 2026, contact DRTHelps@durham.ca.

Include the following information:

  • Name of participant:
  • Email:
  • Old card number:
  • New card number:

Updating your information ensures the August pass can be added to your new card. If DRT is not notified, the August pass cannot be automatically renewed on a replacement card. If you complete a balance transfer through PRESTO, you must still contact DRT to confirm your updated card details.

For PRESTO cards lost or replaced on or after July 18, 2026, customers must complete the PRESTO balance transfer process to recover their pass.

5)    Proof of age

  • This offer is for youth ages 13 to 19.
  • You must show proof of age when setting up a youth PRESTO card. The document must show your date of birth. Student cards without a birthdate are not accepted.
  • If you turn 20 during the promotion, you can still use the youth pass until the end of your birthday month. After that, you will no longer qualify for youth fares.
Senior - Ages 65 and older
  • Single trip PRESTO tap: $2.53
  • Monthly PRESTO pass: $55.30
  • Cash (exact change only): $3.55
  • Open Payment (debit or credit card): $4.85
Child - Ages 12 and under
  • Ages 12 and under: Free of charge.
ACCESS pass and Transit Assistance Program (TAP)

The Transit Assistance Program (TAP) helps make transit more affordable for people receiving social assistance in Durham Region. With TAP, you can choose how you pay:

  • Pay-as-you-go: Pay for your first 14 trips each month (up to $53.76), then ride for free for the rest of the month.
  • Monthly pass: Pay $53.76 at the start of the month and ride as much as you want.

How to apply or renew:

Bring your monthly social assistance statement to one of these locations:

  • Oshawa Centre Guest Services (419 King Street West, Oshawa).
  • Durham Region Headquarters (605 Rossland Road East, Whitby).
  • DRT Customer Service Centre (110 Westney Road South, Ajax).
  • Scugog Municipal Office (181 Perry Street, Port Perry).

Once purchased, the TAP is valid for six-month periods with a PRESTO card that allows you to:

  • Add money at a DRT PRESTO location, online at prestocard.ca, or with the PRESTO app
  • Register your card to protect your balance if it is lost or stolen
  • Keep using your card even if your TAP ends
  • OW clients should contact their Social Services caseworker and ask about receiving a pre-loaded PRESTO card with the TAP concession applied.

If you receive ODSP or Ontario Works (OW), ask your caseworker about a PRESTO card with TAP already added.

Who can apply

All family members listed on an Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or Ontario Works (OW) statement can qualify.

You can also add TAP to an existing PRESTO card by visiting a DRT location and showing your statement. You can also add TAP to your current PRESTO card. Visit a DRT location and bring your social assistance statement.

Important information

  • TAP works with the One Fare Program when your trip starts on Durham Region Transit (DRT).
  • If your trip starts with another transit system, you will pay their regular fare.
  • Trips on other transit systems do not count toward your first 14 TAP trips.
  • It can take up to 24 hours for money added online to show on your PRESTO card. Plan ahead.
  • For help, call PRESTO at 1-877-378-6123 or visit prestocard.ca.
  • You can use your current PRESTO card for TAP.
  • When TAP is added, it replaces any other discount on your card.

Connecting to GO Transit (Co-Fare):
  • Using PRESTO: Free when you tap and connect to or from a GO Train or GO Bus.

  • Paying cash: Free when you show a valid GO single-ride ticket or day pass when you board.

    You can travel on DRT for free when connecting to or from GO Transit.

One Fare Program

  • You must use one of these payment types:

    • PRESTO card (e-purse, monthly pass).
    • PRESTO mobile wallet card.
    • PRESTO open payment (debit or credit card).

    Paying with PRESTO or contactless lets you transfer between DRT and other transit systems without paying another fare. If you pay with cash, tickets, or e-tickets, you will need to pay again when you transfer.
