PRESTO contactless payment to launch on DRT at a later date

Durham Region Transit (DRT) does not currently accept PRESTO contactless payment through credit card.

While customers travelling on Brampton Transit, MiWay, Oakville Transit and GO Transit are now able to pay their fare using credit card (PRESTO contactless payment), this method of payment has not yet been launched for customers travelling on DRT. Whitby, Ontario – This September Durham Region Transit (DRT) is increasing service to welcome customers who may be returning to school or work in the fall.

Customers will benefit from increased frequency on several other routes including four PULSE Rapid Routes and more than 10 routes which will operate every 15 minutes or better, and increased connection to GO Trains with the launch of five new routes.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Transit (DRT) is bringing back Route 917Z to serve the Toronto Zoo and Rouge National Urban Park for summer 2022. More frequent and convenient than before, the 917Z connects Durham residents to family-friendly attractions in Toronto.

When: Route 917Z will operate on weekends and holidays, from 08:30 to 20:00, every 30 minutes, starting June 25 through September 6, 2022.

Where: Route 917Z will serve the Oshawa Centre Terminal, Whitby GO, Ajax GO, Pickering Parkway...

Masks and face coverings welcome on DRT vehicles

Whitby, Ontario – As of June 11, the Province of Ontario will no longer require passengers to wear masks on public transit.

Although masks are not required for staff or riders, Durham Region Transit (DRT) respects and supports anyone who chooses to wear a mask.

DRT would like to thank riders for their co-operation throughout the pandemic.

Riders are reminded to stay safe and be respectful of DRT customers and employees at all times.
