Whitby, Ontario – On June 5, members of the Durham Region Transit Executive Committee (TEC) met to discuss various Durham Region Transit (DRT) initiatives and updates. Details and highlights include:
- DRT replacement buses: Nova Bus has delivered five new buses to DRT, with more on the way in the coming months. These are replacement vehicles since the loss of 19 buses in the August 2023 fire. Members of TEC and DRT expressed their gratitude for Nova Bus and their commitment to prioritizing the need for these buses to be in service for DRT riders.
- Seasonal summer service changes included in the TEC agenda: Starting on Monday, June 24, Durham Region Transit services will be adjusted to accommodate the decrease in travel during the summer, as well as to enhance routes to recreational and important regional destinations. DRT is also making improvements to service reliability and GO Transit connections. Additionally, Durham Region Transit will be introducing six new routes to better serve our residents.
