  • Fare-free transit for Canadian Armed Forces members

    Whitby, Ontario Durham Region Transit (DRT), in partnership with the Region of Durham, is proud to offer a limited-time fare incentive for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, reservists and veterans.

    To qualify for fare-free travel, eligible individuals must present one of the following:

    • Veteran’s Service Card (NDI 75)
    • Canadian Forces Identification Card (NDI 20)
    • CFOne Card
    • Temporary National Defence Identification Card (NDI 10) or
    • Appear in uniform or wearing service medals

    When: From October 31.

  • Durham Region Transit to resume On Demand service on Tuesday, October 21 after temporary outage

    Whitby, Ontario  The technical issue affecting Durham Region Transit’s (DRT) On Demand booking app has been resolved. Starting October 21, all scheduled DRT On Demand trips will resume as previously scheduled.

    Durham Region Transit (DRT) is rolling out its September service updates to help customers get where they need to go, whether that be to school, work, play, or other destinations. These updates are designed to keep pace with growth across Durham, meet increased travel demand after summer, and ensure reliable service as students and commuters return to fall routines.

  • Detour - Route 407 - Wilson Road closure between Dean Avenue and Bloor Street

    When: Extended until Thursday, December 31, 2026

    Route: 407

    Due to a road closure on Wilson Road between Dean Avenue and Bloor Street, Route 407 will detour. Northbound buses will operate via Bloor Street, Harmony Road, Olive Avenue and Wilson Road.

    Whitby, Ontario With summer winding down and back-to-school season just around the corner, DRT is here to help by offering the discounted Y10 monthly youth pass to customers who are 13 to 19 years of age.

    Customers who purchase a pass every month from September until June will save $20.
