Service updates

September 2026 service updates

Starting September 8, 2026, schedule and routing adjustments will be made to improve reliability, extend service later into the evening, and extend service to new growth areas. 

Driving Durham 2025 Service Strategy

  • Many of the changes being made in September, are part of the first year of service improvements for the Driving Durham 2030 Service Strategy. 

  • Through Driving Durham, DRT will work to:
    • Fill gaps in existing service. 
    • Keep up with growth. 
    • Build a more frequent and available network. 
    • Build On Demand and connect Durham's rural villages.

Route 100

  • Route 100 service to the Pickering waterfront ends for the season. 

Route 224

  • Route 224C service via the Ajax waterfront ends for the season.

Route 917

  • Route 917Z service to the Toronto Zoo and Rouge National Urban Park ends for the season.

Route 920

  • Monday to Friday

    • Additional 920B trips will be reinstated during weekday peak periods, to accommodate increased student travel.

As part of the Driving Durham 2030 Service Strategy, DRT is working to fill gaps in existing service. Making transit service more consistent and easy to understand. 

Route 101

  • Monday to Friday
    • New trips will depart Pickering Station at 13:56 and 14:26.

Route 405

  • Monday to Friday
    • New trips will depart Oshawa Centre Terminal at 22:05 and 22:35.

  • Saturday and Sunday 
    • A new trip will depart Oshawa Centre Terminal at 22:35.

Route 502

  • Monday to Friday
    • 502C eastbound trips will now operate via Church and Temperance Streets in downtown Bowmanville.
    • 502C midday trips will be added, so that service to southwest Bowmanville operates all day, Monday to Friday, from about 05:30 to 19:00.
    • Evening service after 19:00 will now operate in both directions.

  • Saturday and Sunday
    • Service will be extended to 22:00.

Route 905

  • Monday to Friday
    • New 905F trips will depart:
      • Southbound from Windfields Farm at 04:32.
      • Northbound from Whitby Station at 04:20.

    • The following trips will now operate as 905F trips:
      • Southbound from Windfields Farm at 00:05.
      • Northbound from Whitby Station at 23:56.

As part of the Driving Durham 2030 Service Strategy, DRT is extending service to new growth areas. Ensuring transit is there when and where you need it. 

Route 423

  • Monday to Friday
    • Service will be extended to Harmony Road and Nancy Diamond Boulevard.
    • The neighbourhoods in the vicinity of Harmony Road and Nancy Diamond Boulevard will be served by a stop on Harmony Road southbound at Dyas Boulevard. 
      • Additional bus stops will be explored once surrounding develop is completed to the point where bus stops can be built.

  • 24 hour service
    • Just a reminder that when Route 423 is not operating, On Demand may be a travel option. 
    • Enter your trip in the DRT On Demand App, or speak with a Booking Agent by dialing 311, to see if your trip is eligible for On Demand service.

As part of the Driving Durham 2030 Service Strategy, DRT is planning more frequent, earlier and later service on main regional corridors. In 2026, DRT is working to stay up later on main regional routes. 

  

Route 121

  • Saturday and Sunday
    • Service will be extended to Pickering Station.
    • With this change, service will operate between Pickering Parkway Terminal and Pickering Station Monday to Sunday.

  • Monday to Sunday
    • Service will be extended to 00:00 midnight.

    • Just a reminder that 24 hour service operates throughout the urban area of Durham Region, from Pickering to Bowmanville.
    • Service operates with a combination of Scheduled and On Demand service. 
    • Enter your trip in the DRT On Demand App, or speak with a Booking Agent by dialing 311, to see if your trip is eligible for On Demand service.
