• Honouring those who serve: In honour of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members—including active-duty personnel, reservists, and veterans—TEC has approved a new fare program. This special recognition program will align with the Canadian Legion’s National Poppy Campaign, running from the last Friday in October through Remembrance Day on November 11. CAF members in uniform and veterans wearing their medals or showing the appropriate government identification, are not required to pay a fare when using DRT services during this period.
• DRT by the numbers: From January 6 to August 10, 2025, DRT’s most productive routes were Route 901 followed by Route 101, Route 900, Route 216, and Route 419 reflecting strong demand across key corridors.
• An overview of September service updates: These updates are planned to keep pace with growth across Durham, meet increased travel demand after summer, and ensure reliable service as workers and students return to fall routines. Notable service enhancements include:
- Route 112 (Seaton, Pickering): extended to serve Alexander Knox Road and Peter Matthews Drive, with new stops bringing service closer to growing neighbourhoods.
- Route 315 (Whitby): new peak-period service between Whitby Station and Port Whitby.
- Route 403B (Oshawa): reinstated and modified to provide weekday peak service to employment areas along Stevenson Road.
- Route 505 (Bowmanville): new peak-period service linking downtown Bowmanville to Port Darlington.
- Route 917 (Whitby): rerouted along Stellar Drive for improved access to employment areas while maintaining access to Durham College Whitby Campus.
