Public transit helps connect people to employment and educational opportunities; supports travel to shopping, dining and tourism destinations; and ensures all residents have access to essential mobility services across the Region.

To continue to enhance the value of public transit for customers, Durham Region Transit is advising of a 10-cent base fare increase when paying with PRESTO, effective July 1.

When: Effective July 1, single-ride PRESTO fares will increase to the following:

  • Adult:  $3.35
  • Youth (ages 13 to 19): $3.00
  • Seniors (65 and older):  $2.20

Single-ride cash fares, including debit and credit payments, will increase to $4.35 for Adult and Youth, and $3.20 for Seniors.

Where: Visit Fares - Durham Region Transit to review a full list of fares, including potential changes to monthly pass rates.

Why: Durham Region Transit’s overall vision is to enhance the value of public transportation for customers, while continuing to offer a safe and reliable option for residents and visitors. The fare increase is part of our 10-year strategy to invest in service enhancements, introduce electrification, and offer new facilities and amenities.

Note: Visit DurhamRegionTransit.com to learn more about our commitment to customers; review a list of our transit options; or review the new full fare listing.
