Whitby, Ontario – On May 5, 2025, Durham Region Transit (DRT) service enhancements will begin. Reflecting the 2025 Durham Region Budget's commitment to adding 69,625 transit service hours, DRT service will be more streamlined and efficient to boost capacity and improve reliability.
When: Changes to DRT service will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Where: The transit network is being adjusted across Durham Region. All service enhancements can be found at DurhamRegionTransit.com/May2025.
Why: DRT is updating its network to add service. Many of these service enhancements were a result of customer feedback from DRT’s Public Information Centres.
Highlights include:
- Trips between Scarborough, Pickering, and North Campus will operate as Route 921 express trips, providing a faster ride for most customers in western Durham.
- New Route 920 trips will be added between Pickering Parkway Terminal and North Campus Terminal, providing more seats and capacity for customers in central Durham.
- More resources are being added to Route 917 on weekdays to improve service reliability. Service will continue to operate every 30 minutes.
- New Route 618 will provide weekday daytime scheduled bus service between Port Perry, Sunderland, Cannington, and Beaverton, complimenting On Demand services between these communities.
- Route 118 will see midday weekday service, providing two all day routes to the growing Seaton area.
- Evening service (from 19:00 and 22:00) has been added to Routes 409/419.
