Whitby, Ontario – On April 5, members of the Durham Region Transit Executive Committee (TEC) met to discuss various Durham Region Transit (DRT) initiatives and updates. Details and highlights include:
- Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day: During the week of March 18, to celebrate Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day, DRT highlighted employees on social media, noting their contributions to public transit in Durham. This annual day of recognition honours operations, maintenance and business service staff who provide excellent customer service for DRT customers.
- Transit Advisory Committee: TEC appointed nominees for the Transit Advisory Committee (TAC), which is comprised of 17 members. During this meeting, nominees from municipal councils in Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering and Whitby were appointed. TEC also selected two additional members-at-large to serve as the TEC appointees, and two members nominated by the Accessibility Advisory Committee were appointed. Additional members of the TAC, including a jointly nominated post-secondary student (from student associations at Ontario Tech University, Durham College and Trent University) and representatives from Oshawa, Scugog and Uxbridge will be confirmed at a future TEC meeting.
