WHITBY, ON – On September 5, several service improvements will come into effect on DRT routes. Service improvements include service increases and enhancements approved by Regional Council, resumption of full-service for back-to-school customers, improved GO Train meets, as well as minor adjustments to Ajax and Pickering Community Routes and the Bowmanville transit network.
The September improvements will ensure that DRT continues to be the most attractive travel option for residents, as well as make life easier for existing passengers. In the lead up to the September 5 service improvements, customers are reminded to check their route and schedule. Updated Route Maps are available on durhamregiontransit.com.
All DRT customers are also reminded that starting September 3, there will be schedule time changes on the Lakeshore East, Lakeshore West, Barrie, Richmond Hill, and Stouffville GO Train lines and on some GO Bus routes. Details and new schedules are available on GO Transit's website.
Service Increases and Enhancements:
PULSE will see increases to weekday frequency.
*New Route 417 Conlin* will serve new areas on Grandview Street North, Conlin Road East and Britannia Avenue, between the North Oshawa Campus Terminal and Harmony Terminal. It will operate Monday to Friday, during mornings and afternoons.
Route 910 Campus Connect will see weekday service increase to every 15 minutes from every 30 minutes, from 12:00 to 18:00, between the Oshawa Centre Terminal and Oshawa Station.
Additional capacity will be implemented to support demand on Routes 401 Simcoe and 915 Taunton.
September Means Back to School:
Full service will be reinstated on PULSE, Route 915 Taunton, and other select bus trips to ensure that capacity is available as the summer season comes to an end and customers return to work and school.
Lakeshore East GO Train Schedule Time Changes:
On September 3, GO Transit is making adjustments to train trips on its Lakeshore East rail service. To ensure a seamless trip for DRT customers connecting to and from train services, DRT will make schedule time adjustments to Routes 101, 103, 107, 110, 111, 112, 120, 215, 216, 217, 219, 223, 224, 225, 226, 232, 302, 303, 305, 308, 910, and 922.
Bowmanville Transit Network
Greater-than-anticipated traffic congestion resulted in reliability concerns for service in Bowmanville:
Routes 501 and 502 will be adjusted to operate along more direct routings, allowing for greater flexibility in the bus schedules to absorb delays caused by car traffic.
Adjusted routings will continue to follow the long-term vision for the Bowmanville transit network, as outlined in the Five-Year Service Strategy.
Routes continue to serve existing new-growth areas and build for further expansion as new development occurs.
Ajax and Pickering Community Routes:
Routes have been simplified to make them more direct and easier to understand.
Key destinations continue to be serviced, though a few destinations will no longer be served right on-site due to roadway geometric constraints, clearance issues, and safety concerns. Customers will continue to have access to the routes at nearby stops.
If customers require further assistance, they are encouraged to contact the DRT Customer Service Centre, conveniently open seven days a week, at 1-866-247-0055.
