In honour of those who serve and have served, Durham Region Transit (DRT) is proud to offer fare-free travel to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, including active service members, reservists and veterans during the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign, from Friday October 31 through November 11.
To qualify for fare-free travel, eligible individuals must present one of the following:
- Veteran’s Service Card (NDI 75)
- Canadian Forces Identification Card (NDI 20)
- CFOne Card
- Temporary National Defence Identification Card (NDI 10)
- Appear in uniform or wearing service medals
As Remembrance Day approaches, we hope this initiative helps make travel easier for those attending commemorative events, connecting with loved ones, or simply going about their day.
DRT routes serving Remembrance Day events
Skip the traffic and parking by taking DRT to your local Remembrance Day event. Our fully accessible buses make it easy for everyone to attend and honour those who have served or continue to serve. With convenient routes and On Demand service in place to serve key ceremony locations, transit is a reliable way to participate in this important day of remembrance.
