Priority & Courtesy Seating

Priority Seating
Passengers using mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers and scooters) require the priority seats in the securement area when travelling on DRT Bus. Seats or space in the mobility device securement area are provided to individuals in the following order of priority:
1. People using wheelchairs or mobility devices
2. People with mobility challenges, walkers, canes or service animals
All other passengers including passengers with strollers must vacate the priority seating area if required by priority passengers. Please respect and obey the purpose of the designated seating area and Priority Seating signs. The Priority Seating area is a regulatory requirement under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Courtesy Seating
There are other passengers who would also benefit from having a seat but do not have a disability. Please do the right thing and give up your seat to another passenger whose need is greater than your own.

DRT Operators are not required to intervene in a Priority or Courtesy Seat dispute. It is difficult for a third party to determine who is more entitled to a Priority Seat. Passengers already onboard and have paid a fare are not expected to vacate the bus to make room for other passengers. If you are not comfortable completing your trip without a seat, please wait for the next bus.
