DRT High School Routes
Durham Region Transit (DRT) provides convenient public transit for high school students. In many cases, routes are specifically intended as High School Specials.

DRT Service versus Yellow School Buses
Yellow School Bus and local school board cancellations do not apply to DRT Bus. Like all other DRT conventional public transit services, DRT High School Bus Service operate on bad weather days.

For information about yellow school bus cancellations listen to local radio stations or visit the Durham Catholic District School Board website at www.dcdsb.ca  , the Durham District School Board website at www.durham.edu.on.ca or visit the Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario website at www.stsco.ca.

Unlike the yellow school bus, DRT is a public transit service and seating for all passengers is not guaranteed.  DRT Transit Supervisors and the Traffic/Transit Co-ordinator at individual schools monitor and review passenger volume on a regular basis to confirm student safety is not at risk.

Yellow school bus stopping laws do not apply to DRT buses, therefore, students must carefully watch for passing traffic when approaching for boarding and when departing from transit buses.

One Fare Anywhere in Durham Region for Students
One fare anywhere in Durham Region, including GO Transit with a pre-paid DRT ticket, pass or transfer.  Passengers may board GO Bus with a pre-paid DRT ticket, pass or transfer without additional cost.  Cash fares are not accepted on the GO buses as proof of a DRT fare.  Regular GO fares apply for travel that extends outside of Durham Region.

Behaviour

Yellow school bus stopping laws do not apply to DRT buses and, therefore, students must carefully watch for passing traffic when approaching for boarding and when departing from transit buses.
