July 2012 Service Changes

WHITBY, ON, June 18, 2012 – Durham Region Transit (DRT) will implement the following service changes effective July 2, 2012, unless indicated otherwise.
  • 218 Beach - 20 minute service and route adjustment to operate on Station Street & King’s Crescent
  • 218D Beach / Audley South – Replaces 281 Evening and Sunday route with route adjustment to operate on Station Street and King’s Crescent
  • 219D Ravenscroft / Village – Replaces 280 Evening and Sunday route serving Ravenscroft and Village routes
  • 221 Central Ajax – Adjusted schedule to the former 221 North Central Ajax
  • 221D Central Ajax - Adjusted former route 280 Evening and Sunday, serving central Ajax, Ajax Plaza, Monarch and Clements areas
  • 224  Harwood - Improved 20 minute frequency and new schedule
  • 224D Harwood / Lake Drive Way - Replaces 283 Evening and Sunday route, 221D will serve the Monarch area
  • 225D Audley North - Replaces the 282 Evening and Sunday route
  • 280, 281, 282, 283 Evening and Sunday  - Revised routes and new schedule, see 218D Beach/Audley South, 219D Ravenscroft/Village, 221D North Central Ajax and 225D Audley North
  • New Ajax Sunday Schedules - Routes operating on Sunday - last departure 22:05
  • 302 Brock/Brooklin  - New Monday to Friday midday service, 30 minute midday frequency
  • 304 Anderson and 305/305B Thickson - Schedule adjusted to improve GO Train connections
  • 401 Simcoe North and South  - Improved Summer schedule, 15 minute service frequency
  • Oshawa Holiday Service - Effective July 1, 2012 for Canada Day, expanded holiday service on 403 Park, 406B Dean, 407B Ritson, 408 Stevenson, 409 Thornton, 410 Olive, 411 Grandview, 412  Adelaide and 413 GO Shuttle
  • 501 Aspen Springs and 502 Liberty - Adjusted schedule with select Hwy 2 GO Bus meets at Temperance Street       
    Scugog Community Bus – New Wednesday service and adjusted Monday and Thursday schedule
    Brock Community Bus – New route and schedule in Uxbridge and Cannington
    Regional Routes
  • 915 Taunton - Terminates at the Ajax GO Station, see new  923 Bayly from the Pickering GO Station
  • 923 Bayly – New cross-boundary route from U of T Scarborough Campus at  Military Trail to Audley Road via Ajax and Pickering GO Stations
    Pickering Route Re-structure – The anticipated consolidation of 17 routes in Pickering and adding approximately 16,000 service hours is expected to coincide with the installation of elevators for the bridge structure in September, 2012. The new DRT routes operating north of the Pickering Parkway, with the exception of 110 Central Pickering and 112 Brock, will use the pedestrian bridge to connect with GO Train service. Installation of elevators for the bridge structure is a prerequisite for all Pickering DRT route changes.
  • 117 Valley Farm – New route serving Duffins Heights originally scheduled for implementation in September 2012, will begin July 3, 2012.
    The changes were approved by DRT’s Transit Executive Committee (TEC) and Regional Council in February, 2012.
    Passengers will find schedule change updates at www.durhamregiontransit.com as the information is finalized.  Printed schedules will be available onboard prior to implementation and at ticket sales locations throughout the Region. Customers may also call Customer Service at   1-866-247-0055.
    The changes reflect DRT’s commitment to continuously review route performance for efficiency, monitor requests for service and provide the most effective service possible for DRT customers.
